In recent weeks, the issue of labour exploitation in the fashion industry was once again the focus of attention for both institutions and the media.
The Milan Public Prosecutor's Office began investigations to ascertain any liability along the chain of contracts and subcontracts, requesting documentation from thirteen leading brands in the industry.
The investigation stands out for its systemic approach: it does not limit itself to assessing the relationships with individual suppliers, but seeks to examine governance structures, control mechanisms and the due diligence procedures adopted by the maisons to prevent labor exploitation throughout the entire supply chain.
