On February 29, the law converting the so-called “Milleproroghe decree” introduced a new “criminal shield” for doctors, similar to the one enacted during the Covid-19 pandemic, aimed at protecting them from the new emergency affecting the National Health Service: the severe shortage of personnel in healthcare facilities.
As it is an emergency measure, it will only apply to events that occurred until the end of 2024.
Meanwhile, on March 28, the deadline for the work of the d’Ippolito Commission expired, which was tasked with making proposals for comprehensive reform in this area. The matter, therefore, is still evolving.
